Volunteer opportunities for the week of May 20th, 2013

We all know the importance of social media in getting the word out, but for some of us, figuring out how to post and what to tweet can be a bit overwhelming. If you’re a social media guru, the Community’s Garden is looking for you! Help them keep their friends and donors informed about all of the great things happening at the Community’s Garden by updating their Facebook page and Twitter feed. This is a great opportunity for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of time, but still wants to find a way to help. Contact Jenny at (920) 746-5994 or jennifer.spude@ces.uwex.edu.

This Thursday, May 23rd, beginning at 9:00 am, the VFW is requesting assistance from any volunteers who would be able to help place flags at Bayside Cemetery and St. Joseph's Cemetery for the Memorial Day holiday and then removing them on Wednesday, May 29th. If you have a few hours, please consider volunteering to assist with this tribute to the Veterans of our Country. Contact Bill Graf at (920) 743-7688 or billnmarygraf@charter.net .

This year’s Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour, sponsored by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, will take place on July 20th & 21st. Starting in Mequon and finishing in Sturgeon Bay, riders cycle along Lake Michigan’s shoreline to support the fight against blood cancer. Volunteers are needed at Sunset Park to help with traffic control, parking and the unloading of luggage. Volunteers are also needed to be at the finish line to cheer on riders and hand out medals and towels as they complete their 150 mile ride! This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals and groups. Contact Sarah at 262-785-4272 orscenicshore150@lls.org. Or, visit our website at www.scenicshore150.org.
